The five books are shown in publication order, but each tells a complete Bear-and-Mouse story. Thank You Bear is the best introduction; after that, choose the emotional theme that fits the moment.

Very little text and expressive, uncluttered pictures give young children room to read the characters' feelings. The books work well as quiet conversation starters rather than as lessons with one required answer.
