For parents

What Parents Should Know

This is sustained supernatural horror with occult serial murders, mutilated bodies, ghosts, possession, a deadly sleeping sickness, an asylum, explosions, guns, addiction, injuries, and important character deaths. The atmosphere is often frightening even between violent scenes.

The series also confronts racism, antisemitism, eugenics, homophobia, sexual harassment, and other period prejudice. Romance and sexual references appear, but the horror and the real-world injustice beneath the 1920s glamour are more prominent.
