Penelope Rex Books

Read the four full-size picture books in publication order, beginning with We Don't Eat Our Classmates. Each school problem stands alone, but the first book introduces Penelope, her classmates, and Walter the class goldfish.

Bundle Up, Penelope Rex! is a much shorter board book for ages zero to two and can be read at any point. Penelope Rex vs. the New Kid was scheduled for August 18, 2026, so it was still forthcoming at this page's August 12 review date and is not included in the current count.

Penelope repeatedly swallows her classmates in the first book, but spits them out unharmed; the joke is cartoonish and becomes a lesson in empathy when the class goldfish bites her finger. Later stories address stage fright, jealousy, pet responsibility, and self-control.

The pictures include big dinosaur teeth, chasing, a bite, and chaotic pet behavior, but not realistic injury. Humor carries clear social-emotional themes without requiring the books to be read as formal lessons.
