The child-like illustrations demonstrate the intentional gearing towards young minds with the scribbly, stick-figure-esque characters, yet perhaps hinder the classic potential when paired with the lovely, hopeful, and motivating messaging. Some clever wordage, such as “mending fences,” adds to the applicability of the book, but the text is slightly diminished by the interrupting flow due to the on-and-off rhyming.
