Emily Windsnap and the Monster from the Deep
Written by Liz Kessler & illustrated by Sarah Gibb
What would you do if you found out that a mythical monster you have heard about your whole life is actually a real thing? In book one Emily found and saved her dad from jail. King Neptune allowed them to stay as a family on a hidden island where other merpeople and humans live happily together. She has her best friend, Shona, there with her and all is good, right? The problem is that Emily still has issues trying to make friends and she will do just about anything to get people to like her. So when Emily finds out that there is a forbidden lagoon that holds all kinds of secrets, she wants to explore it to make the other girls to like her. The problem is that she drags Shona into her explorations and Emily awakes a great monster in the deepest part of the ocean. Now her new island is in danger from title waves and the wrath of King Neptune. Emily is forced to face this enormous creature, try to save her family, try to restore the friend that she lost, and even save her ex-best friend that is a human? What? Can Emily correct the wrong that she committed? Will it leave long lasting effects that she can not undo? Read this incredible second installment of Emily Windsnap! You won't regret it! Now on to book three!!

Tail of Emily Windsnap
Written by Liz Kessler & illustrated by Sarah Gibb
What would you do if the first time you went swimming you found out that you were a mermaid (or merman)? Would it scare you or would you be excited? This is exactly what happens to Emily Windsnap. Emily lives on a house boat with her mom but she is not allowed to get into the water. Her dad left when she was born and she doesn't know anything about him, but oddly neither does her mom. Emily is also having trouble in the best friend department. She made one small mistake and now her best friend has turned on her and she is trying to make sure no one is friends with Emily. When Emily finally begs her mom into letting her take swimming lessons, she has no idea how it will change her life. At the first swimming lesson, when she gets into the water things start to change with her body and she doesn't understand. The swim coach thinks that she is having a cramp and swoops her out of the pool before anything happens. That night Emily has to know what is going on so she sneaks out after her mom is asleep and she eases into the ocean and that is when it happens - her legs turn into a tail. This is when Emily discovers a whole new world, but will this happiness last very long? She makes a mermaid friend who tells the tale of forbidden love between merpeople and humans. Is her dad a merman and if so, where is he? And what about the strange man that runs the lighthouse? Has he been spying on her and her mom this whole time? And if so, is he dangerous? Is her mom in danger? Can Emily figure out what is going on in the ocean as well as on land? Can she protect her mom on the land? And can she find out the truth about her dad before it is too late? Read this incredible, fast-paced action story about a girl who is searching for the truth before it is too late! Loved this story! I can't wait to read book 2!

I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916
What would you do if you were swimming in a creek and you saw a shark coming toward you? Would you believe it? A shark in the creek?? That is what Chet Roscow came face to face with and you will not believe what happens. In 1916 people believed that sharks were as tame as rabbits so who would believe an 11-year-old kid was attacked by a shark? Lauren Tarshis’ I Survived books are some of the best out there. She uses true facts and weaves in a fiction story that will have you on the edge of your seat. You absolutely cannot go wrong reading any of her books. Read I Survived The Shark Attacks of 1916 to see if Chet actually survives a real shark attack.
