More than 30 years old and in both paper and board book editions, We're Going on a Bear Hunt is a classic for children of all ages. Helen Oxenbury's beautiful watercolor illustrations alternate with black/white pencil drawings and contain lovely details; they are a perfect complement to the text. The text repeats and builds suspense as the adventurous family continues their quest to find and then avoid the bear. It's predictability makes it especially fun for young readers to hear again and again.
