Importance of Reading

When we first heard about the summer slide, our minds went to playgrounds and laughter.

For years, we’ve been helping families build home libraries filled with wonderful books. Now, we’re excited to introduce a new era for our book clubs: Bookroo Custom Editions.

Good parents want the best for their children. They want their children to accomplish more, to make it a little further, to be absolutely happy in their lives. They spoon mushed peas into little mouths, supervise hours of painstaking homework, chauffeur to endless activities, and provide all the support they can, all in an attempt to ensure their kids have bright futures. And for this, we tip our hats to parents everywhere, including our own.

My mom read to me as a child. Lots and lots and lots. She was an English major, so maybe that had something to do with it. Whatever the reason, my mom always loved books, and reading is what she did for fun. And it showed in her parenting–she demonstrated that reading was a form of entertainment and a way to learn. She taught us to read to each other for fun. However, I believe the most important reading my mom did was to read to us above our reading level. She gave us access to stories and prose that we couldn’t read on our own and encouraged us to press forward so we could access it for ourselves.

Any time customers cancel their Bookroo subscription, we ask why. We want to know how we can improve our service, and feedback from users provides the most valuable insights. One of the most common responses we get is that subscribers feel they have too many books at the moment.
