A peek between the covers

Since I was a child I have loved baking cookies. And briefly I worked at a New York City bakery. These two things came together and inspired the idea for this book.
When I start a book I collect reference materials and then start small pencil sketches.
And here is the picture in the book.
Another reference photo and my sketch. Can you see how this baker working so carefully to decorate the cake helped me with my picture?
Then I painted a color sketch, but I still made more changes...
