In order from Redwall to The Rogue Crew.
Brian Jacques's animal-fantasy saga spans generations of mice, badgers, hares, and other woodland creatures defending Redwall Abbey and Mossflower. Most novels tell a complete adventure inside a shared history.

For a first visit, publication order is the clearest route: begin with Redwall and continue through The Rogue Crew. The internal chronology moves backward and forward, but later books often reward familiarity with places, traditions, and legends introduced earlier.
Because many volumes feature a new generation and a largely self-contained quest, a confident reader can also sample another premise. The Great Redwall Feast is an optional illustrated companion, not one of the 22 novels.
The cozy abbey, songs, feasts, riddles, and comic dialect sit alongside genuine medieval-style warfare. Characters fight with swords, arrows, spears, and siege weapons; heroes and villains are injured or killed, and some deaths are emotionally significant.
The combat is adventurous rather than graphic, but the stakes are higher than the animal cast and inviting covers may suggest. The books also use stylized dialects and long descriptive passages, making them a better fit for patient independent readers or family read-alouds than for children seeking a very quick fantasy.
