I Survived Books

The 25 currently published novels are numbered, but each tells a self-contained story, so children may read in order or begin with the historical event that interests them most. I Survived the Night of the Lions, 2025 is announced as #26 but remains a September 2026 preorder and is not included in the published count yet.

The graphic novels are adaptations of selected prose titles, not sequels. True Stories uses a nonfiction format and can be read independently; it is useful for children who want real accounts after finishing the fictional survival story.

Every book centers on a frightening real event, so children encounter danger, injury, separation from family, destruction, and sometimes death. War and persecution titles can include particularly serious historical context, while natural-disaster books may feel intense to children anxious about storms, fire, earthquakes, or drowning.

The violence is written for middle-grade readers rather than lingered over, and the central child survives. Back matter helps distinguish the fictional protagonist from the real history and emphasizes preparation, courage, community help, and recovery.
