Read the 28 numbered novels from Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus through Turkeys We Have Loved and Eaten. The stories are episodic, but publication order preserves Junie's move from kindergarten into first grade and the growth of her friendships.
The graphic novels retell the prose books rather than continuing them. Begin that route with the Stupid Smelly Bus graphic novel, or switch between formats at the matching title. The school survival guide is an activity companion; the two-in-one editions contain stories already counted in the 28 novels.

Junie is energetic, impulsive, and very funny, but her grammar, spelling, name-calling, and blunt observations are intentionally childlike rather than models of polished behavior. Stories usually let consequences and caring adults help her understand what went wrong.
The books stay gentle: common worries include school embarrassment, jealousy, friendship conflict, monsters under the bed, pets, holidays, and occasional teasing. They work especially well as read-alouds when a parent wants to talk through Junie's choices without draining the humor from them.
