Wombat Books

The eight books are shown in publication order. They are episodic picture books, so they can be read independently, but Diary of a Wombat is the natural introduction to Mothball's personality and her relationship with humans.

Diary of a Rescued Wombat was published last but tells how baby Mothball found a home. It can be read first chronologically, though its anniversary-prequel idea means more after the original.

Sparse diary entries and expressive pictures let young listeners infer the joke: the wombats see chewed doors, dug holes, ruined gardens, and disrupted events as perfectly reasonable ways to train their humans.

The prequel begins with a lost, frightened baby wombat before she is rescued and cared for. Otherwise the conflict is gentle slapstick and property damage, with affectionate relationships between animals and people.
