Bookroo's summary

Hubie dreads the school play tryouts, fearing stage fright will ruin him. He imagines disaster and dreams of stardom, but opts for the safety of the audience. Yet, on opening night, Hubie unexpectedly becomes a legend. What twist of fate awaits him on stage?

From the publisher

When Hubie hears about tryouts for his school play, he gets stage fright. No problem there–lots of people do. But with Hubie, as usual, the stage fright takes some very strange twists and turns. On the one hand, he imagines himself onstage with kids throwing rotten vegetables at him–he even throws a tomato at himself. On the other hand, he sees himself as a famous Hollywood actor with bodyguards, an agent, and a fancy car! Finally, Hubie decides he just wants to be in the audience. It’s the safest place. But that’s not how it happens. On opening night, Hubie becomes a part of school history–although not in a way anyone could have expected. Aligned to Common Core Standards and correlated to state standards. Chapter Books is an imprint of Spotlight, a division of ABDO.
