Bunny Slopes
A bunny goes skiing and gets into various misadventures.
Skiing asks a lot of a child before it gives anything back. There are boots that do not bend, poles that go everywhere, a chairlift that does not stop, and the discovery that pointing downhill is the easy part. Then something clicks — usually about four falls in — and the whole mountain turns into a thing you can steer. The best ski books know that arc by heart, which is why so many of them are funny: a giraffe on the big scary slope, squirrels loose on the bunny hill, a dog who takes the ski lesson better than his owner.
Bookroo's collection of skiing books covers the first pair of skis, the ski-school week, and everything past the rope line — slalom races, avalanche dogs, backcountry rescues, and a lodge with a mystery in it. Our editors picked thirteen favorites below, from a tilt-and-shake picture book for three-year-olds to survival novels for confident middle graders. After the shortlist, browse by age: picture books for ages three to eight, then chapter books for ages six to twelve.
