It’s never too early to get little ones interested in computer coding with this unique series of board books! How do you explain coding in art to a baby? By showing how it’s all around them, and how they can take part in it, of course! By using items in a baby’s world, like a camera or a block made from a 3D printer, this charming board book full of bright, colorful illustrations is the perfect introduction to coding in art for babies and their caregivers–and is sure to leave them wanting to learn more!
Sandra writes picture books, beginning readers, and, most recently, the Baby Code! series of board books. Her picture book The Giant Hug (Knopf, 2005, illustrated by Valeri Gorbachev) was a Junior Library Guild selection and an IRA Children’s Choice, and has been translated into many languages. Family, friends, pets, and nature spark the ideas for many of her stories. In addition to writing children’s books, Sandra also works as the library director of the Chaplin Public Library. Books surround her at home and at work! She lives in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut with her husband, two sons, and a flock of chickens and ducks (all named, of course).
Melissa Crowton completed her MFA in the Illustration Practice Program at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore in 2016. She now creates doodles for Google’s homepage, and works on illustration projects for publishers and other clients. Her work has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators, Creative Quarterly, and American Illustration. Originally from Utah, Melissa currently lives in Northern California.
