What are the Book Wallet and Book Cash?

Explainer · Updated

Every class has a free Book Wallet: store credit for buying books for your classroom on bookroo.com. The money in it is called Book Cash, and your class earns it by reading. Find it by opening your class and clicking Book Wallet in the sidebar.

Weekly Book Cash

Each week, your class can earn $1.50 in Book Cash:

  1. Have at least 10 students in your class.
  2. Get at least 75% of them to record reading between Monday and Sunday. A student counts if they log reading or finish a book that week.
  3. Click Claim $1.50 before the week ends on Sunday afternoon (Pacific time).

The progress bar on Overview and on Book Wallet shows how close you are this week. Claims are never added later, so a week you don't claim is lost. The class owner or an Admin co-teacher can claim.

Other ways to earn Book Cash

  • Suggest an Idea: when Bookroo builds a feature you suggested on the Ideas page, we add $25.
  • Refer a Teacher: see Refer a teacher.
  • Your Personal Book Shop: share your class's shop, and earn 15% on books bought through it.

Spending it

Your Book Wallet card shows its balance and a 16-character code. When you check out on bookroo.com, click Have a gift card or coupon? Enter it here. and enter the code like a gift card.

Book Cash can only be spent on bookroo.com. It can't be exchanged for money, and it expires three years after it's added.
