How do I give a book club as a gift?

Click Give a gift, choose the club and plan, then at checkout tick Are you giving this as a gift? and either enter the recipient's address or let them add it themselves.
1. Choose a renewing or one-time gift
On the plan step, pick:
- One-time: 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, paid once. It never renews.
- Subscription: renews every 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, charging your card, until you cancel it. You keep the account and the billing. Choose this only if you mean the gift to keep going: see Does my gift renew?.
2. Say where it goes
At checkout, tick Are you giving this as a gift? and enter the Recipient's name. Then either:
- Enter their address. Boxes go straight to them. Add their email under Recipient's email and they'll get a note about the gift and a tracking email for each box; leave it blank and the shipping emails come to you.
- Let them add it. For a one-time gift, tick Let the recipient add their own shipping address, enter their email, and pick the Date to send gift email. On that date they get an email with a link to claim the gift and enter their address. Their boxes start once they claim it.
3. Add a note
Click + Add gift message for up to 50 characters. It goes by email if you gave the recipient's email, or on a postcard if you didn't.
Giving it in person
- For a baby shower or party, tick Ship the first box to you to give in person? (on multi-month gifts) and add your address. The first box comes to you; the rest go to the recipient. Allow a week or two for it to arrive: see When will my box ship and arrive?.
- Nothing to wrap yet? Print a card or mini crate: see Can I give something physical with my gift?.
Starting later
To have boxes start in a later month, pick it in the Starts menu beside the club in your cart. If the recipient adds their own address, set the Date to send gift email instead: their boxes start when they claim it.
