The Best Daily Activities Books for Kids

By the Bookroo Editors
Updated August 1, 2026

A young child's day is mostly the same eleven things in the same order, and that is exactly why they want to read about it. Waking up, finding both socks, arguing about breakfast, riding along on the errand, dodging the toothbrush, putting the blocks away, climbing into the tub, going to bed and immediately needing water — it is the whole plot of childhood, and a good book about it does two useful jobs at once. It hands a toddler the words for what is happening to them, and it lets a four-year-old watch somebody else lose the sock for a change.

Bookroo's collection of 1,517 daily activities books runs from first board books that narrate the morning while it is happening to picture-book classics built around one ordinary day. Our editors picked fourteen favorites and put them roughly in order — sunrise, getting dressed, meals, errands, chores, teeth, bath, and the last light of the evening. Start with the shortlist, then browse the board-book and picture-book shelves below.
